5 Benefits of Kissing

5 Benefits of Kissing

You probably grew up thinking boys had cooties. They do, but that’s besides the point.

More than likely this tactic was used to deter us from exchanging saliva with the opposite sex (or same sex).  While our parents’ intentions were honorable and understandable, they more than likely ignored the health benefits you would otherwise receive from sharing your lips.

Now, before you begin calling your mother in rage, know that it isn’t too late to begin your kissing whoredom. It is, afterall, for your well being.

Here are 5 benefits of kissing, according to healthline.com

  • Triggers your happy hormone
  • Kissing releases “feel good” chemicals that include oxytocin, dopamine, and serotonin. These chemicals can create a euphoric feeling inside of us.

It also has been shown to lower cortisol levels.

  • Reduces anxiety
  • Raise your hand if your anxiety is a b*tch. If you did raise your hand, know that kissing can calm you down with it’s release of oxytocin.

  • Soothes headaches
  • If you’re somebody who uses the “ not tonight, honey. I have a headache,” excuse, I’m calling you out. Kissing has been shown to lower your blood pressure and stress which can help with and even prevent your headaches.

  • Boosts your immune system
  • Apparently, exchanging spit exposes your immune system to new germs which in turn strengthens it.

  • Reduces allergic responses
  • Kissing has been shown to provide relief to hives and other allergic reactions associated with dust mites and pollen.

Did you know any of that?  If not, now you do.

    You’re welcome.
